"Wiffle ball bat! And more, good sir!" Silly things, those flowers, causing issues when there didn't need to be any. He had only been trampling across them because he was in a hurry. It was almost tea time, and he was dreadfully late. Some gasps and cries echoed behind him as Hatter fled the scene, leaving a rather large portion of some small daffodils bent into the ground. "Do come by for tea some time! I'll make it up to you!" His hand raised for a moment, a signal of goodbye as he disappeared into the forest. The flowers mourned the loss of the little ones, a song rising above them all and to the cloudy skies above.
"Goodness, I am terribly late." Adding a skip to his step, Hatter dashed by trees and bushes his mind focused on nothing but the delicious tea awaiting him at home. And muffins. Oh, the muffins! Cranberry, and lemon, sweet potato with crumbled almonds, all kinds of muffins with so many toppings! It made his mouth water with anticipation. Of course, first he had to travel through this treacherous forest. One wrong step and he may end up at the beginning once again. Strange how things worked in Wonderland. But who was he to complain? He was a long time resident of of this place and loved most of it.
Then again, he was incredibly mad.
A hop, a skip, and a jump, and what seemed like magically he was home. Before him sat his enormous table. Full of cups and plates and tea pots galore. He spotted the muffins and tarts, the pieces of cake and bread that awaited him. "TEA TIME!" His yell echoed across the expanse of his clearing. The ticking of clocks began to ring out around him, without hesitation Hatter approached the table and grabbed a cup. It was chipped and worn, but it worked and that's all that mattered.
For a few moments he enjoyed his tea and muffins. But after a half hour or so Hatter realized that he was completely alone. The March Hare was no where to be seen, and neither the other few people who sometimes paid him a visit. With the clocks still ticking, and the tea still pouring, Hatter set his cup down and stepped away from the table.
"March!? Hare!? MARCH!? Are you there!" No reply answered him, and Hatter felt a bit of sadness come over him. While out walking he was used to being alone, but tea time had always been a grand venture. There was always someone there with him. At least one other person. A frown worked it's way onto his lips, and for a moment he had the urge to cry. But he quickly wiped that from his mind, instantly smiling at his good fortune. Obviously March was playing a joke on him, and Hatter was always up for a good game.
"I shall count to ten, Hare! And then I shall find you! And so he began to count, forgetting six and adding in a few letters of the alphabet and the color green, but eventually he made it to ten and opened his eyes. "Here I come March! Be ready!" A giggle emptied his throat as he skipped from tree to tree. After searching every bush and nook and cranny of the table, Hatter was increasingly becoming angry.
"Hare! I truly wished I knew where you were! This isn't fun-" A blanket of blackness took him over and without warning Hatter felt his feet leave the ground and his mind go quiet.
